Taking Time to Pause
As the year came to a close, our team stepped away from daily work. We gathered for our annual staff retreat. The goal was simple: reflect, reconnect, and refocus.
Research work moves quickly throughout the year. Therefore, moments like this matter. They give the team space to breathe and reset before the next chapter begins.
A Team of Many Specialties
Rinda Ubuzima's team includes more than 80 professionals. Our staff span many specializations, including research nurses, laboratory personnel, data specialists, study physicians, and community officers. Each role plays a distinct part in our work.
Bringing this diverse team together, even briefly, helps everyone see the bigger picture. It is easy to stay focused on one's own role day to day. Retreats like this remind everyone how each piece connects to the larger mission.
Why Culture Matters in Research
Strong research depends on strong teams. Trust, communication, and shared purpose do not happen by accident. They are built deliberately, over time.
Our retreat gave staff across departments a chance to connect outside their usual roles. These informal moments often strengthen collaboration just as much as formal training does.
Looking Ahead
The retreat closed out a demanding year of clinical trials, community engagement, and regional partnerships. Coming together helped the team recognize how much had been accomplished.
As we move into the new year, we carry that same spirit of collaboration forward. We wish our partners and community continued success in the year ahead.
